Nutritional Therapy

nutritionA nutritional therapist will try to resolve your health concerns through dietary and/or lifestyle modification without the use of medicinal drugs or procedures.

“The evidence for nutritional therapy is becoming so strong that if the doctors of today don’t become nutritionists, the nutritionists will become the doctors of tomorrow.” Dublin GP

Why see a nutritional therapist?

We now live in a highly toxic environment. Toxins are present in our food and drink and in the air we breathe. Even our teeth might be a source of toxicity from the mercury fillings. Electromagnetic radiation is everywhere with mobile phones and wireless technology.

All these toxins take a heavy toll on the body. Our liver becomes overloaded, hormone systems are disrupted, weight can change, we become tired and find we cannot cope as well as we once could. Perhaps we notice slight memory or concentration loss, we start to suffer from insomnia or we need even more sleep than before but still wake unrefreshed. Maybe our skin starts to break out or we develop asthma or hay fever. PMS gives us distressing mood swings. We thought it would be easy to become pregnant but somehow it never happens.

Often we are so used to being tired and sluggish and putting up with aches and pains that we have forgotten how it is to have boundless energy, a sharp mind and perfect digestion.

If any of this sounds familiar or if you have any health concerns which have not been resolved by conventional medicine, a nutritional consultation could provide the answer. Just call or email Body Logic to make an appointment or, if you have any further questions, give Body Logic your contact details and I will call you.

What conditions can be helped by Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy can be helpful for most conditions but in particular:

  • Weight issues
  • Digestive complaints (irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, wind)
  • Liver detoxification
  • Stress and blood sugar fluctuations
  • Persistent tiredness and chronic fatigue
  • Depression, anxiety, mood swings, sleep problems
  • Memory and concentration difficulties
  • Thyroid problems and nervous system disorders
  • Allergies and sensitivities (food and chemical), hay fever, asthma etc
  • Pain and inflammation (arthritis, fibromyalgia, headache, migraine)
  • Skin problems (eczema, acne etc)
  • Heart problems (high cholesterol, high blood pressure, angina, breathlessness)
  • Hormonal issues (male/female infertility, pregnancy, PMS, lowered libido, menopause)
  • Infections (bacterial, viral, parasitic and candidiasis

What happens in a consultation?

In order for me to asses how I can best help you, I will ask you to complete a symptom and dietary questionnaire in advance of the consultation.

When we see each other, we will discuss your concerns and what may be causing your symptoms and I may suggest further investigations, depending upon the nature of the problem. I will then recommend dietary and/or lifestyle modifications and I may also recommend supplements.

Some people are scared of seeing a nutritional therapist because they believe that they will have to give up all their favourite foods, stop drinking and become a vegetarian. While there is much to recommend this lifestyle, I do not work this way. We will devise a programme together, based on what you think you could realistically achieve.

Some problems can be helped quickly and you may only need a couple of appointments. Where the precise cause of the problem is not immediately clear or it has been an issue for some time, more appointments may be necessary. We are all genetically and biochemically unique, so there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution and it may take a little time before we find what is absolutely right for you.

However difficult your case, I will never give up on you. I will always persevere until the root cause of the problem has been found and we have devised a treatment programme.
