Physiotherapy is the combined approach of soft tissue and joint
mobilization and manipulation. This helps achieve total body rehabilitation
following postural damage, sports and other forms of injury, with
particular regard to prevention of future problems.
Physiotherapy assesses and treats a wide range of conditions including
back pain, sciatica, sports injuries, whiplash, tennis elbow, joint
problems, headaches, postural dysfunctions, muscular aches, neck
pain and post surgical rehabilitation.
'Musculoskeletal pain syndromes are seldom caused
by isolated precipitating events, but are the consequences of habitual
imbalances in the movement system.' Sahrmann
Why Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is unique in its complete assessment of the three
important systems within the musculoskeletal problems. These are:
Joints
Muscles
Nerves
Then it combines this into an integral treatment process, while
our long-term goal is to prevent the chance of reoccurrence by patient
education and understanding.
Our Physiotherapists
All physiotherapy treatment at the clinics is undertaken by Chartered
and State Registered Physiotherapists. Please continue into the
site to find out more information about our team of chartered
physiotherapists.
Appointments
The
initial consultation is 45 minutes. This gives time to clearly assess
and diagnose the nature of the problem and the site of the structures
involved. The diagnosis is then discussed with the patient for a
thorough understanding of the cause of their symptoms.
Follow-up appointments are normally 30 minutes.
In addition to this we offer Workstation Assessments to assist with the curse that is sitting at a computer for long periods of the day in the modern world. Follow the link through to find out more on the assessment and how it may be able to help both yourself and your work collegues.
We are pleased to be able to offer a
Screening Assessment, which is a new concept within physiotherapy
aimed at prevention rather than cure. This works more along the
lines of your yearly visit to the dentist, to pick up problems before
they arise.
We also offer sports injury appointments which are 15 minutes long
and are for the diagnosis of acute injuries, unfortunately they
are not available for neck or back complaints. This is to offer
early advice and intervention of recent problems and to confirm
there is no serious underlying condition.
We will endeavor to find a treatment time that suits you. Home
visits may be arranged.
Payment
These are payable at the time of consultation.
Claims can be made via all medical insurance companies. It is advisable
to contact the company prior to commencing treatment to ascertain
the necessary requirements as payment is ultimately the responsibility
of the patient.
