physiotherapyChartered Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the combined approach of soft tissue and joint mobilisation and manipulation, with particular regard to exercise rehabilitation. The aim is to assist the body in achieving its normal movement following dysfunction. These problems can occur due to habitually poor posture, sports injuries, work related problems (with particular regard towards workstation setup) or other injuries.

'Musculoskeletal pain syndromes are seldom caused by isolated precipitating events, but are the consequences of habitual imbalances in the movement system.' Sahrmann

Physiotherapy assesses and treats a wide range of conditions including back pain, sciatica, sports injuries, whiplash, tennis elbow, joint problems, headaches, postural dysfunctions, muscular aches, running injuries, knee problems, neck pain and post surgical rehabilitation.

Physiotherapy is unique in its ability to assess the dysfunctions in the body’s movement patterns and correcting them via manual therapy. The integration of different modalities of treatment to assist in obtaining normal joint movement, good flexibility of the muscles and other soft tissues is key to the success of treatment.

Return to normal activities of daily living, hobbies and sport is the ultimate function of good physiotherapy treatment and making a planned approach towards such goals is paramount to our method.
Rehabilitation is undertaken with particular attention to individual patient education allowing the prevention of future problems.

Appointments

The initial consultation is 45 minutes. This gives time to clearly assess and diagnose the nature of the problem and the site of the structures involved. The diagnosis is then discussed with the patient for a thorough understanding of the cause of their symptoms.

Follow-up appointments are normally 30 minutes.

In addition to this we offer Workstation Assessments to assist with the curse that is sitting at a computer for long periods of the day in the modern world. Follow the link through to find out more on the assessment and how it may be able to help both yourself and your work colleagues.

London Marathon 2008 injury clinicWe are pleased to be able to offer a Screening Assessment, which is an exciting concept within physiotherapy aimed at prevention rather than cure. This works more along the lines of your yearly visit to the dentist, to pick up problems before they arise.

We also offer sports injury appointments which are 15 minutes long and are for the diagnosis of acute injuries, unfortunately they are not available for neck or back complaints. This is to offer early advice and intervention of recent problems and to confirm there is no serious underlying condition.

We will endeavour to find a treatment time that suits you. Home visits may be arranged.

Payment

These are payable at the time of consultation.
Claims can be made via all medical insurance companies. It is advisable to contact the company prior to commencing treatment to ascertain the necessary requirements as payment is ultimately the responsibility of the patient.
